7. Rohan lent a total of 31,00,000 to two people.
He lent a certain amount to P at 10% p.a. simple
interest and lent the remaining amount to Q at
20% p.a. simple interest. He lent each amount for
two years and received 32000 as the total interest.
Find the sum he lent to P (in *).

Answer:

Let the sum lent to P be x. After 2 years the amount will be 1.2 x. Let the sum lent to Q be y. After 2 years the amount will be 1.4 y.

x+y= 100000 ….. (1)

1.2 x+ 1.4 y= 132000

(1) x1.2 = 1.2 x+1.2y =120000

Hence .2y =12000

Therefore y=60000 and x= 40000
