7. Ruben examines up to a tank of water that can hold up to 10 gallons. When it is
active, a drain empties water from the tank at a constant rate. When Ruben first sees
the tank, it contains 9 gallons of water, four minutes later, the tank contains 6 gallons of water. ​

given that,

→ When Ruben first sees the tank, it contains water = 9 gallons .

→ 4 minutes later, the tank contains water = 6 gallons.

so,

→ in 4 minutes water empty = 9 - 6 = 3 gallons .

then,

→ Rate of changing the water = (3/4) gallons / minutes .

since water is decreasing per minutes , the rate will be in negative .

now,

→ water tanks was completely full before = 10 gallons = before 9 gallons = 1 gallon = 1/(3/4) = (4/3) minutes .

also,

→ Time taken by tank to drain completely = 6 / (3/4) = 6 * (4/3) = 8 more minutes .
