7 sections of the library and their meaning

It’s going to differ on libraries and how directors want their libraries managed. The library I work at and most of the libraries in my area are sectioned like this. There is a circulation department near a main entrance that handles check in/out, signing up for a library card, and general library info. There is an adult fiction department that is broken down into regular fiction, mystery, science fiction/fantasy, large print, and audiobooks of those genres. There’s a children’s department for children’s materials both fiction, nonfiction, and audio as well as some computers especially made for kids. There is an adult nonfiction area that has all of the dewey decimal ranges. There might be a Technology department for a quieter area for using library computers (like a computer lab). There may or may not be study rooms or meeting rooms.

Again, a lot of it all depends on how the director of the library wants it planned out, but those are the basic sections.
