Given:

  • The area of a parallelogram is 338 m². If its altitude is twice the corresponding base,

To Find:

  • The base and the altitude.

Solution:

Let us we consider the base of the parallelogram be " x "

Now, as per the given , the height is twice the base i.e, " 2x ".

Now, as we know the formula for area of the parallelogram.

  • ⠀⠀⠀⠀Area → Base × Height

\impliesBase = * x "

\impliesHeight = " 2x "

Substituting the values in it, we get :

Area = x * 2x

⇒ 2x²

Now, area is already given as 338

\implies2x² = 338

\impliesx² = 338/2

\impliesx² = 169

\impliesx = √ 169

\impliesx = 13 m

⠀⠀\underline{\bf{x = 13 m}}

Now, simply putting the value of x

  • Base of the parallelogram → x = 13 m
  • Height of the parallelogram → 2x = 2(13) = 26 m
