Given:-

  • Side of square = 16 cm
  • Length of rectangle = 32 cm
  • Area of rectangle = Area of Square

To Find:-

  • The breadth of the Rectangle

Solution:-

We first need to find the area of the square,

Side of the square = 16 cm

We know,

Area of the square = (Side)²

Hence,

Area = (16)²

= 256 cm²

Therefore, the area of the square is 256 cm²

Now,

Since, Area of Square = Area of Rectangle

Therefore,

Area of Rectangle = 256 cm²

We know,

Area of the Rectangle = (Length × Breadth) sq.units

Therefore,

256 = 32 × Breadth

=> Breadth = 256/32

=> Breadth = 8 cm

Therefore, Breadth of the rectangle = 8 cm.

How Did I do?

→ Firstly we were given the value of side of the square and the length of the square. Also it was given that area of the square is equal to the area of the rectangle. Now since we got the area of the square as 256 cm² the area of the rectangle is to be the same. So we got the area of the rectangle. Now we were given the value of length of rectangle as 32 cm. We know that area of rectangle = Length × Breadth. So putting the values in the formula, we get the value of breadth of rectangle as 8 cm.
