⇒ we know that Average of set of numbers

                           = sum of the numbers / number of numbers

⇒ the average of 12 numbers, 16 = sum of the numbers/ 12

⇒ sum of the numbers = 12 ×16 =  192

⇒ here 23 is taken as 32      

⇒ subtract 32 and add 23 to sum of the numbers

⇒  192 - 32 +23  =  183

⇒ correct average  = 183/12 =  15.25
