Length of the wire = 20m.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Curved surface of a cylinder = 1000 cm².

Diameter of wire = 5 mm

Find: Length of wire to cover the cyclinder fully.

Solution:

Curved surface area of the cylinder = 2πrh = 1000.

CSA of cylinder = CSA of wire -------------------(1)

Let the numbers of turns made by wire be n.

Then height of cylinder = diameter of wire * n

h = 5*n mm = 0.5n cm ----------(2)

Length of wire = Perimeter of the base × no. of turns

L = 2πr * n

L / n = 2πr --------------(3)

From equations (1), (2) and (3) we get:

1000 = 2πrh

1000 = L/n * h

1000 = L/n * 0.5 * n

1000 = 0.5 L

L = 1000 / 0.5

L = 2000 cm or 20m
