Mohammad bin Tughlaq led an expedition to kullu- kangra region (Himachal Pradesh now ) called the qarachil expedition.

Badauni a historian wrote that that his aim was to invade china after crossing the himalayas. But he faced revolt from Prithvi Chand II of Rajput kingdom and was defeated. He had to retreat with all his soldiers nearly 1 lakh .

Mohammad bin Tughlaq was the son of Ghiyas-ud-din- tughlaq ,founder of Tughlaq dynasty. He became king in 1325 after his father's death. He was known as a mad King and a failure due to his impractical decisions.

•He shifted his capital from Delhi to daultabad and had to shift back again to Delhi to due lack of water supply.

•He introduced a silver currency called tanka which had to be removed later. It was relalced by simpler coins. This caused a lot of financial loss.

•His increasing of land taxes in the doab region led to protests and revolt. The people were allready suffering from famine at the time.

•His various expeditions failed due to lack of practicality.
