Given :

  • Ratio of boys and girls = 5:9

  • Total number of students = 56.

To Find :

  • Total number of girls in the class = ?

Solution :

Let, no. of students be x, 5x and 9x

\to \sf 5x + 9x = 56 \\  \\ \sf \to 14x = 56 \\  \\ \to\sf \: x =  \frac{56}{14}  \\  \\ \to\bf \: x = 4

So, X = 4.

No.of Boys = 5x

\to \sf \: 5x = 5 \times 4 \\  \\\to\sf 20

∴ No.of boys = 20

No. of Girls = 9x

\to \sf \: 9 \times 4 \\  \\ \to\sf \: 36

∴ No. of Girls = 36.

20 + 36 = 56

\text{\huge\underline{\red{Question:-}}}

:\Longrightarrow The ratio of the number of boys and girls in a class is 5:9. Find the number of girls if the total number of students in the class is 56.

\text{\huge\underline{\orange{To\ find:-}}}

:\Longrightarrow The number of girls = ??

\text{\huge\underline{\green{Given:-}}}

:\Longrightarrow The ratio of boys and girls in class = 5 : 9.

:\Longrightarrow Total number of students in class = 56.

\text{\huge\underline{\purple{Solution:-}}}

:\Longrightarrow Let the number of boys be , 5 × x = 5x.

:\Longrightarrow And the number of girls be, 9 × x = 9x.

\text{\Large\underline{\blue{According\ to\ the\ Question:-}}}

:\Longrightarrow Number of boys + Number of girls = Total number of students

:\Longrightarrow 5x + 9x = 56

:\Longrightarrow 14x = 56

:\Longrightarrow  \mathrm{x\ =\ \dfrac{56}{14}}

:\Longrightarrow x = 4 (Number of boys)

:\Longrightarrow ( Since, it is given that number of girls = 9x)

\text{\Large\underline{\blue{By\ putting\ the\ value\ of\ x:-}}}

:\Longrightarrow = 9 × 4

:\Longrightarrow  \mathfrak\pink{\bigstar{\boxed{Answer\ =\ 36}}}

:\Longrightarrow \therefore Hence, the number of girls in class = 36.
