Lets assume,

A is first force and B is another.

according to given condition. (1)

A + B=18....... (1).

according to given condition. (2)

The resultant is 228 when theta =120°

let's put formula in the case when theta =120° and The resultant is 228.

R =√ A^2 + B^2 + 2AB cos theta

√228= A + B + √2AB cos theta

228= √324 + 2AB - 1/2

√228=324-2AB +1/2

324 - 15 -1/2=2AB

308.5/2 = AB
