7. Two numbers are in the ratio 5:6. If 8 is subtracted from each of the numbers, the
ratio becomes 4:5. Find the numbers.​

Given,

Two numbers are in ratio 5:6

=} Let the numbers be 5x , 6x

if 8 is subtracted from each number then the new numbers are ,

5x - 8 ; 6x - 8

 \frac{5x - 8}{6x - 8}  =  \frac{4}{5}

According to the problem,

 5(5x - 8) = 4(6x - 8)

25x - 40 = 24x - 32

=} By solving we get,

x  = 8

=} the numbers are 5x , 6x

40 \:and \: 48 \: \: are \: the \: numbers

Solution :-

Let the ratio be 5x and 6x

5x - 8/6x - 8 = 4/5

5(5x - 8) = 4(6x - 8)

25x - 40 = 24x - 32

25x - 24x = 40 - 32

x = 8

Number are

5x = 40

6x = 48
