Marasmus is the disease which occurs in infants of 1 year or under 1 year of age.
In this disease,
- The child becomes thin.
- There's no subcutaneous fat.
- Stomach shrinkens and child becomes dehydrated.
- Ribs becomes very prominant.
The child who's suffering from marasmus requires high protein, carbohydrates and fats in diet.
Main cause of this disease in India is poverty, malnutrition and lack of proper amount of nutrition in food.
