when buttermilk is added to it it may take a long time to form curdling or may not form

bcoz ,the medium (chilled environment) is not suitable for growth of bacteria

hot milk

when buttermilk is added to it ,curdling processes may occur or may not occur due to medium (hot condition).

luke warm milk

when buttermilk is added to it ,growth of bacteria is fast and vigorous hence it forms curdling .

I also want to add this point

formation of curdling from milk is due to denaturation of proteins (3°and2°into1°proteins)done by lacto bacillus bacteria
