Explanation

There are total 32 permanent teeth in the human beings. Both jaw i.e. upper jaw and lower jaw contains 16 teeth (32/2). There are total 20 milk teeth or temporary teeth in the child. Upper jaw contains 10 teeth and lower jaw contains 10 teeth (20/2).

There are 4 types of teeth in the oral cavity:

Incisors, Canines, Molars and Pre-molars.

  • 4 incisors in upper jaw and 4 in lower jaw. Therefore, there are total 8 incisors.
  • 2 canines in upper jaw and 2 in lower jaw. Total 4 canines.
  • There are 12 molars teeth out of which 4 are considered as wisdom teeth.
  • Similarly, there are total 8 premolars teeth 4 in upper and 4 in lower jaw.
