Answer:

CuSO4 + CO2 ----------> CuCO3 + SO3

_____ ____ ______ ____

a b c d

first choose the part which has highest valency

so, CuSO4 (a) is taken as 1

here in a, there is only one Cu. and in c, also there is one Cu

hence, a = c => c =1

and in b, there are 2 O. and in c, there are 3

so, 2b = 3c

we know c = 1 => 2b =3

b = 3/2

in d, there us 1 sulphur. and in a, there is also 1

wo, a = d

so, d = 1

a = 1, b = 3/2, c = 1, d = 1

to remove fractional numbers,

1×2, 3/2 ×2, 1×2, 1×2

= 2, 3, 2, 2

Now the balanced equation is,

2CuSO4 + CO2 ----> 2CuCO3 + 2SO3
