Six-Year Old Mamta Saves Sister from Crocodile
India is land of brave children was proven by yet another tale of a brave child from Kendrapara in Odisha. Last April Mamta, a six year old girl and her sister Ashanti, who is seven, were taking bath in a pond in their village. Out of nowhere a five feet long crocodile suddenly emerged out of the depths of pond and attacked Ashanti and began pulling her into the pond.
The brave Mamta did not get scared, instead she jumped into the water, and using all her might held onto her sister’s arm. A tug of war ensued between the courageous girls and the fierce monster. The screams and shouts for help attracted people’s attention. They rushed to help the girls. Finding itself surrounded by people, the crocodile slipped into the pond. Ashanti was fortunate to survive the attack. If Mamta would not have acted intrepidly, she might have lost her sister. Mamta was given the National Bravery Award. She is the youngest recipient of the Bravery Award.
