Step-by-step explanation:

Suppose,

x = 5/2 & y = 1/2

Now, solve both

1. 7^5/2+1/2=343

7^5+1/2=343

7^3= 343

343= 343

2. 7^5/2-1/2 = 49

7^ 5-1/2= 49

7^2=49

49= 49

Step-by-step explanation:

7^x-y= 49

7^x-y= 7^2

since the base of LHS and RHS are same, we can equate the power of both sides

x-y=2

similarly you will get

x+y= 3

solving 1 & 2 you'll get

2x= 5

x=5/2 or 2.5

substitute x in eqn 1

x-y=2

5/2-y=2

y=5/2+2

y=9/2 or 4.5
