7 Year’s ago,a man was seven times as old as his daughter was and 3 years hence,the man will be three times as old as his daughter will be.Find their present ages

Let the man's age be x and his daughter's age be y.
7years ago the man's age was be x-7 and his daughter's age was be y -7
According to question
7(x-7)=y-7
.=>7x-49=y-7(eq1)
=>7x-42=y.
then after 3 years the man's age will be x+3 and his daughter's age will be y+3. According to question
3(x+3)=y+3.
=3x+9=y+3(eq2)
now value of y from eq 2 is 3x +6=y (equation 3)
Putting this value of y in equation 1 we get
7x-42=3x+6
=>7x-3x=6+42
=>4x=48
=>x=48/4
=>x=12
from equation 3.
The value of y is 3*12+3=y
y=39.
