Given:

3 unknown solutions with pH value as 6, 8 & 9.5 respectively.

To find:

Which solution has max OH- ?

Calculation:

1st solution:

 \sf{p(OH) = 14 - p(H)}

 =  >  \sf{p(OH)  = 14 - 6 }

 =  >  \sf{p(OH)  = 8}

 =  >  \sf{{OH}^{ - }   =  {10}^{ - 8}  \: M}

2nd solution:

 \sf{p(OH) = 14 - p(H)}

 =  >  \sf{p(OH)  = 14 - 8 }

 =  >  \sf{p(OH)  = 6 }

 =  >  \sf{{OH}^{ - }   =  {10}^{ - 6}  \: M}

3rd solution:

 \sf{p(OH) = 14 - p(H)}

 =  >  \sf{p(OH)  = 14 - 9.5 }

 =  >  \sf{p(OH)  = 4.5 }

 =  >  \sf{{OH}^{ - }   =  {10}^{ - 4.5}  \: M}

So, 3rd solution has highest OH- ions.

Hope It Helps.
