Given:

In a circle, if an arc of 5.5 cm length subtends an angle of measure π/16 at the centre, then find the radius of the circle?

To find:

The radius of the circle

Solution:

Let "r" represents the radius of the circle.

The length of the arc of the circle, s = 5.5 cm

The central angle of the circle in radians, θ = \frac{\pi}{16}

We know,

\boxed{\bold{s = r\theta}}

where s = arc length, r = radius and θ = central angle in radians

On substituting the given values in the formula above, we get

5.5 = r \times \frac{\pi}{16}

\implies r = 5.5 \times 16 \times \frac{7}{22}

\implies r =  \frac{616}{22}

\implies \bold{r =  28 \:cm}

Thus, the radius of the circle is → 28 cm.
