Given: 70, 68, 64, 58, x, 40

To Find: The value of x

Solution:

70 - 2 = 68

by subtracting 2 from 70 we find 68

68 - 4 = 64

now subtract 4 from 68. it is 64

64 - 6 = 58

subtract 6 from 64

58 - 8 = 50 ∵ similarly subtract 8 from 58

To check if the value of x= 50

we subtract 10 from 50 and find the last number 40 hence proven that the real value of x is 50

Therefore by subtracting 2,4,6 …. in the sequence we get the value of x

∴ value of x = 50
