70% of students failed and 1116 passed, what is the total students appeared?

the total number of students appeared would be 3720

manojthhnojn: Then 7% of 3720 would be 260.4 those who failed but then 1116 passed and the total is 1116+260.4 = 1376.4 and by the way there should not be decimal while determining person. NE ways thanks Sweety2

pids: Mate...I think you did something wrong....its 70% not 7%...and 70% of 3720 is 2604...and 2604+1116=3720...which makes the answer absolutely correct..

if x is the total number of students appeared in exam,
then,
x= \frac{70}{100}x+1116
x=0.7x+1116
x= \frac{1116}{0.3}
x=3720

Therefore, total number students appeared in exam is equal to 3720
