• The rest are Mahomedans .
• The number of Mahomedans is 300.

To Find :

• The total population of the village.

Now let us suppose the total population of village to be "x ".

If 70% people are Hindus , then the rest (100-70)%=30% must be Mahomedans .Also given that the Number of Mehomedans is 300 .

Hence 30% of x = 30/100 × x = 3x/10.

⇒ 3x/10 = 300.

⇒ x = 300×10/3.

⇒ x = 1000.

Earlier we assumed the total population to be x ,

Hence the total population of the village is 1000.
