The coal which contains around 70% carbon is called Bituminous coal.
Bituminous coal is a variety of coal which is superior to lignite but inferior to anthracite. It is the most abundant coal. It consist of around 50% of total coal reserves of world. It is a soft variety of coal and it contains a tar like substance called bitumen. other than carbon it also contains sulfur, hydrogen and moisture. Bituminous coal is formed when lignite coal is subjected to high pressure.
