Hello there,

● Answer -
Atomic mass of metal would be = 20 g/mol

● Explaination -
Let x be the mass of metal reacted.
Reaction : M + Cl2 --> MCl2
Initially : x 71 0
Equilibrium : 0 0 x+71

But we know,
Products formed = 71 + x = 111
x = 111 - 71 = 40 g

Moles of Cl2 = 71/35.5 = 2

Atomic mass of metal would be -
M = 40/2 = 20 g/mol

Therefore, atomic mass of element is 20 g/mol.

Hope this helps you...
