let the amount received by A =a

let the common difference be = d

Therefor-:

Amount received by B = a+d

Amount received by C = a+2d

Amount received by D = a+3d

Amount received by E = a+4d

Further -

Amount received by E = Amount of A + 40

a+4d = a+40

d=10

Sum of all the money received  = 720

a+a+d+a+2d+a+3d+a+4d = 70

5a + 10d = 720

5a+100 = 720

5a = 620

a = 124

Hence the money received by A is 124
