Given :- A jeweler wants to sell a necklece for Rs. 179.95 next week at a 60% off sale. How much should the price of the necklace be this week?

a) Rs. 71.98

b) Rs 251.93

c) Rs. 299.92

d) Rs. 449.88

Solution :-

Let us assume that, the price of the necklace be this week was Rs. x .

A/q,

→ x = 179.95 - (60% of 17.9.95)

→ x = 179.95 - (60 * 179.95/100)

→ x = 179.95[ 1 - (60/100) ]

→ x = 179.95 * (1 - 3/5)

→ x = 179.95 * (2/5)

→ x = Rs.71.98 (Ans.) (A)

Hence, that, the price of the necklace be this week was Rs. 71.98.
