Correct Question :- 670 shells were divided among three boys in the ratio of their ages, such that for every 4 shells that Mike took, Nick got 3 and for every 6 that Mike got, Sam got 7. How many shells did the youngest boy get?

Solution :-

given that,

→ 4M = 3N

→ N/M = 4/3

→ N : M = 4 : 3

and,

→ 6M = 7S

→ M/S = 7/6

→ M : S = 7 : 6 .

so,

→ N : M : S = (4 * 7) : (7 * 3) : (3 * 6) = 28 : 21 : 18

then,

→ Shells gets by youngest boy (Sam) = [18/(28 + 21 + 18)] * 770 = (18/67) * 670 = 180 shells (Ans.)
