Among of these⇒ ₇N, ₆C, ₈O, ₅B, ₁₃Al . The most electronegative element is Oxygen (₈O).
Before discussing why ? First we must know what is Electronegativity ?
Electronegativity :- The atom which attract the bonding pair of electron or capable to get electrons are known as electronegative atoms. The phenomenon is known as electronegativity.
The correct order of electronegativity ⇒ O > N > C > B > Al
Reason/Explanation :-
(i) Electronegativity Increases when we move left to right from a period.
(ii)Electronegativity decreases when we move down to the group.
By this way we get the correct order of electronegativity{O > N > C > B > Al }
Electronic Configuration :-
Boron (B⁵) -------→ 1s²,2s²,2p¹
Carbon(C⁶)------→1s²,2s²,2p²
Nitrogen(N₇)-----→1s²,2s²,2p³
Oxygen(O⁸)------→1s²,2s²,2p⁴
Aluminum(Al¹³)--→1s²,2s²,2p⁶,3s²,3p¹
Hence,Among of these Oxygen is the most electronegative element.
Hope it Helps. :-)
