Given :  number of trucks passing an intersection has a Poisson distribution with a mean of 5 trucks per minute

To Find : probability of 0 or 1 trucks in one minute

Solution:

Poisson distribution

P(x)  = { λˣ  e^(-λ) } / x!

λ  = Mean  = 5

probability of 0 or 1 trucks in one minute

= P(0)  + P(1)

P(0)  = 5⁰ e⁻⁵ / 0!  =  0.00674

P(1)  = 5¹ e⁻⁵ / 1!  =    0.03369

probability of 0 or 1 trucks in one minute   = 0.00674 + 0.03369

= 0.04043
