7th March historic Speech was given by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1971.

Historic speech

  • The 7th of March is unquestionably one of the most significant days in Bangladesh's history. On this day in 1971, Mr. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the great leader, delivered one of the most brilliant addresses in human history. It was in front of a crowd of over 2 million people. The Bengali people were motivated by this speech to prepare for an independence fight.
  • In the 1970 national elections, the Awami League gained 167 of the 169 seats in the national legislature, giving them a majority. The Awami League now has the constitutional power to form a government as a result of the election results.
  • However, Bhutto, the leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, was certain that a Bengali should not become Prime Minister. They began their elected Awami League with the acquisition of governmental powers.
  • The situation then to a head. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered his remarks at the Ramna race course in Dhaka on March 7.
  • He outlined four prerequisites for joining the national assembly on March 25. He also issued various commands for a civil movement and provided his countrymen some instructions. The speech came to a close with "This time, our struggle is for our independence. This time around, we're fighting for our independence. Bangla joy!".
  • On October 30, 2017, UNESCO included the speech in the World Register as part of the world's documentary heritage. Bangabandhu's speech on March 7, 1971, was undoubtedly beneficial in instilling in Bengalis a definite desire of independence.
