x = 1 and y = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

We have,

7x - 2y = 5xy                    ...... (1)

and 8x + 7y = 15xy           ......(2)

To find, the values of x and y =

Multiplying (1) by 7 and (2) by 2 and adding them, we get

7(7x - 2y) + 2(8x + 7y)= 7(5xy) + 2(15xy)

⇒ 49x - 14y + 16x + 14y = 35xy + 30x

⇒ 65 = 65y

y=\dfrac{65}{65}

⇒ y = 1

Put y = 1 in equation (1), we get

7x - 2(1) = 5x(1)

⇒ 7x - 5x = 2

⇒ 2x = 2

⇒ x = 1

Hence, x = 1 and y = 1
