X= 2 and Y = 1

7X – 3Y= 11 - eq i

5X – 2Y= 8 - eq ii

Multiply equation (i) by 2

2(7X – 3Y) = 11×2

14X – 6Y = 22 - eq iii

Multiply equation (ii) by 3

3(5X – 2Y) = 8×3

15X – 6Y =24 - eq iv

Subtracting equation iii from equation iv

15X – 6Y = 24

– ( 14X – 6Y) = 22

_______________

X = 2

Putting value of X in equation i

7(2) – 3Y = 11

14 – 3Y = 11

14–11 = 3Y

=> 3Y = 3

=> Y = 1

Ans. X = 2 and Y = 1
