We have to find the value of x.

=> $\dfrac{7x \: + \: 4}{x \: + \: 2} \: = \: \dfrac{ - 4}{3}$

Cross multiply them

=> $3(7x\:+\:4)\:=\:-\:4(x\:+\:2)$

=> $21x\:+\:12\:=\:-\:4x\:-\:8$

=> $21x\:+\:4x\:=\:-\:8\:-\:12$

=> $25x\:=\:-\:20$

=> $x\:=\dfrac{-\:20}{25}$

=> $x\:=\dfrac{-\:4}{5}$

On solving (7x + 4)/(x + 2) = -4/3 we get x = -4/5.
