The given equation is : \dfrac{7x \:  +  \: 4}{x \:  +  \: 2}  \:  =  \:  \dfrac{ - 4}{3}

We have to find the value of x.

=>  \dfrac{7x \:  +  \: 4}{x \:  +  \: 2}  \:  =  \:  \dfrac{ - 4}{3}

Cross multiply them

=> 3(7x\:+\:4)\:=\:-\:4(x\:+\:2)

=> 21x\:+\:12\:=\:-\:4x\:-\:8

=> 21x\:+\:4x\:=\:-\:8\:-\:12

=> 25x\:=\:-\:20

=> x\:=\dfrac{-\:20}{25}

=> x\:=\dfrac{-\:4}{5}

On solving (7x + 4)/(x + 2) = -4/3 we get x = -4/5.

VERIFICATION :

From above calculations we have x = \frac{-4}{5}

Put value of x in this : \frac{7x \:  +  \: 4}{x \:  +  \: 2}  \:  =  \:  \frac{ - 4}{3}

=> 21x\:+\:12\:=\:-\:4x\:-\:8

=> 21(\frac{-4}{5})\:+\:12\:=\:-\:4(\frac{-4}{5})\:-\:8

=> \frac{-84}{5}\:+\:12\:=\:\frac{16}{5}\:-\:8

=> \frac{-84\:+\:60}{5}\:=\:\frac{16\:-\:40}{5}

=> \frac{-24}{5}\:=\:\frac{-24}{5}
