3x+4y=17. .....(2)

by (1),

x=(11+5y)/7

put value of in (2),

3[(11+5y)/7]+4y=17

33+15y+28y=119

43y=86

y=2.

and ,

x=(11+5*2)/7

x=21/7

x=3.

THUS:

X=3,Y=2

Given :

7x - 5y = 11,

3x + 4y = 17

To Find : Solve for x  and y

Solution:

7x - 5y = 11        Eq1

3x + 4y = 17       Eq2

4 * Eq1  + 5 * Eq2

=> 28x - 20y  + 15x  + 20y  = 44 + 85

=> 43x  = 129

=> x = 129/43

=> x = 3

Substitute x = 3 in Eq2

=> 3(3) + 4y = 17

=> 9 + 4y = 17

=> 4y = 8

=> y = 2

x = 3  and  y = 2   is the required solution
