According to your question,

3y²+7y+4 = 0

a = 3

b = 7

c = 4

Put all this in formula,

x = [-7+√(7²-4×3×4)]/2×3

x = [-7+√(49-48)]/6

x = [-7+√1]/6

x = [-7+1]/6

x = (-7+1)/6 or x = (-7-1)/6

x = -6/6 or x = -8/6

x = -1 or x = -4/3
