Let p(y) = 7y - y³ + y^5

i ) degree of the first term ( 7y ) = 1

ii ) degree of the second term (-y³ ) = 3

iii ) degree of the third term (y^5) = 5

Degree of p(y) = Highest power of y

in p(y)

= 5

Therefore ,

Degree of p( y ) = 5
