According the question we have to find the blank number.

We are observing the above series and find that the ratio of 15 to 8 is equal to the ratio of 27 to 15.

15 ÷8 = 1.8

27 ÷ 15 = 1.8

hence $\frac{15}{8}$ = $\frac{27}{15}$ = $1.8$

now let the no be x.

∴ X ÷ 27 = 20 ÷X

X² = 27× 20 = 540

X = √540

  = $23 .2379 = 23$

∴ The required number will be 23

   hence  the series will be ,8 15 27 23 20
