3. ABC is a triangle in which AB = AC = 4 cm
and ZA = 90°. Calculate :
(i) the area of A ABC,
(ii) the length of perpendicular from A to BC.​

(i) area of triangle ABC = 1/2 × b × h

= 1/2 × 4 × 4

= 8 sq. cm.

(ii) by pythagorus therem,

(P)^2 + (B)^2 = (H)^2

(4)^2 + (4)^2 = (H) ^2

16 + 16 = (H)^2

(H)^2 = 32

H = 2√2

now let the base BC

now area of triangle ABC = 8 sq.cm.

1/2 × b× h = 8

1/2 × 2√2 × h = 8

h = 8/√2cm

h = 4√2 cm
