The discrimination can be seen most blatantly in matters of food and nutrition, health care, education, allowances, work at home and freedom. Dear Sir,

Through the esteemed columns of your newspaper I want to bring in light the discrimination which is practiced against the girl child among most of the families in India even among well educated, and prosperous families .Also the main objective of this letter is to urge the concerned authorities .

Children are the most precious gifts of God to parents , Whether The child is a boy or a girl ,parents should treat their children equally .But our society is so unconcerned about this.They prefer only boys and not girls, they do not treat them in same manner . The boy child is loved by his parents while the girl child is often ignored by her own parents. This problem can be seen in still many parts of India, Among poor as well as rich and well educated families in urban areas. Girl Child is not loved by parents ,She is not given equal opportunities as compared to his brother . She is also not given freedom like her brother in every field . She has to face a lot of discrimination in food and nutrition , for ex. in several families it is assumed that girls should not take eggs, ghee etc. It is one of the most incorrect assumptions that people have ,they don't give the girl child nutritional diet, protein rich food etc. due to which she is not able to grow properly.

In most uneducated families , it is beleived that girls are made only for household activities.They should live inside houses.

It is said that we are developing , but our society is still mentally backward .

I request you to give this article suitable space in your newspaper. So that awareness can be spreaded among these people, and girls should also get equal opportunities in every field compared to boys.
