Answer :

\large\boxed{\sf{\star\:\:a\:=\:1\:\:\star}}

Explanation :

Given :–

  • A.P.  :- (-8) , (-5) , (-2) , a , 4 , ...
  • where t₁ (t) = (-8) , d = 3 .

To Find :–

  • The value of 4th term of this A.P. (a)

Formula Applied :–

  • \boxed{\sf{\star\:\:a_n\:=\:t\:+\:(n\:-\:1)d\:\:\star}}

Solution :–

We have , t = (-8) , d = 3 , n = 4.

And we also know the formula \sf{a_n\:=\:t\:+\:(n\:-\:1)d}.

Putting these values in the above formula , we get :

\sf{\rightarrow a_4\:=\:t\:+\:(4\:-\:1)d}

\sf{\rightarrow a\:=\:(-8)\:+\:[3\:\times\:(3)]}

\sf{\rightarrow a\:=\:(-8)\:+\:(3\:\times\:3)}

\sf{\rightarrow a\:=\:(-8)\:+\:9}

\sf{\rightarrow \boxed{\sf{a\:=\:1}}}

∴ The value of a will be 1.
