To find:

The required answer.

Solution:

Refer to the attachment to understand clearly.

There are four boxes in which we have to find the addition of 8 and 13, subtraction of 6.

Let the numbers be A, B, C, D respectively and form equations.

1) A + B = 8

2) D + B = 8

3) C - D = 6

4) A + C = 13

From (1) and (2) we get A = D

From (3) we get C = 6 + D

substitute C value in (4)

A + C = 13

=> A + 6 + D = 13

From (1) we know that A= D

So, A + 6 + A = 13

=> 2A + 6 = 13

=> 2A = 13 - 6

=> 2A = 7

=> A = 7/2

=> A = 3.5

We got A = D = 3.5

substitute A value in (1)

A + B = 8

3.5 + B = 8

B = 8 - 3.5

B = 4.5

Substitute A value in (4)

A + C = 13

3.5 + C = 13

C = 13 - 3.5

C = 9.5

Hence, the values of A, B, C, and D are 3.5, 4.5, 9.5, and 3.5 respectively.
