Hi friend!

Answer:

8.9 = (9 - 0.1)
8.9² = (9 - 0.1)²

Identity 2 --> (a - b)² = a² - 2ab + b²
Here, a = 9 & b = 0.1

(9 - 0.1)² = 9² - (2 × 9 × 0.1) + 0.1²
= 81 - (1.8) + 0.01
= 79.2 + 0.01
= 79.21

Therefore, \: \: \large{\boxed{8.9^2 = 79.21}}.

Hope you found my answer helpful. Keep Smiling!
