Answer:

total distance travelled by the  ball  = 40 m

Step-by-step explanation:

A ball is dropped from a height of 10m

It  bounces to a height of 6m, then 3.6m and so  on

Distance

10 + 6  + 6   + 3.6  + 3.6  +.........................

10 * 0.6 = 6

6 * 0.6 = 3.6

Total Distance = 10  + 2 * ( 6 + 3.6 +...................................)

This is an infinite GP  with a = 6  r = 0.6

Sum = a/(1 - r)

10  + 2  *( 6/(1 - 0.6))

= 10 + 12/0.4

= 10 + 30

= 40

total distance travelled by the  ball  = 40 m

Answer:

25 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the G.P = 10[ 6,3.6......]

Here a=6 and r=0.6

Therefore, S= a/1-r

S= 10+ 6/1-0.6

S= 10+ 60/4

S= 10+15

S= 25 m

..... Hope this helps......
