Venture capital firms are firms or companies which provide financial support to individual startups , businesses and investors , whom they think are capable of winning a place in the market . They in turn get benefitted when the startups or investors become successful and provide them with the share of equity they promised . The share of equity a venture capital firm may ask can vary from 10 percent to 80 percent , depending upon the level of financial support the new startup took from them .
