8. A can do a piece of work in 80 days. He works at it for 10 days and then B alone

finishes the remaining work in 42 days. In how much time will A and B working

together finish the work?

In 10 days A will do 1/8 th part of the work.

Which means 7/8 is remaining work which later gets completed by B in 42 days.

Which means B would alone complete the work in 48 days.

Hence by deviding the LCM of 80 and 48(the LCM of individual time taken by different entities gives the total work) by the total efficiency of A and B together which is 8.

Hence 240/8=30.

Hence A and B would take 30 days to complete the work..
