Before, finding the answer. Let's find out on how we can find our answer.

  • First, we must find the area of both floor and carpet.
  • Then must subtract area of floor with carpet.

Given :

Floor = 50 m and 40 m wide.

Sides of Carpet = 30

To find :

Floor which is not carpeted.

Solution :

Area of Floor = l × b

= 50 × 40 sq.m

= 2000 sq.m

Area of Carpet = s × s

= 30 × 30 sq.m

= 900 sq.m

Not carpeted = Area of Floor - Area of Carpet

= 2000 - 900 n

= 1,100 sq.m

Hence, 1,100 sq.m are not carpeted.

KNOW MORE :

  • Area of Square = s × s
  • Area of Rectangle = l × b
  • Area must be expressed in sq.cm/m/km only.
