8. A gas occupies 3 litres at 0°C. What volume
will it occupy at -20°C, pressure remaining
constant? ​

Given,

Volume 1 (V₁) = 3 L

Temperature 1 (T₁) = 0°C

= 273 K

Temperature 2 (T₂) = -20°C

= 253 K

Using Charles's Law, we get,

V₁/T₁ = V₂/T₂

= 3/273 = V₂/253

= (3*253)/273 = V₂

= 759/273 = V₂

= 2.78 L = V₂

The New Volume is 2.78 L.
