A motorboat covers a distance upstream in 6 hours and covers the same distance downstream in 5 hours .If 3 km/h is the speed of the water, then find the speed of the boat in still water .

________________________________

Let the speed of th motorboat in still water be xkm/hr.

→Speed of the motorboat in downstream = x + 3

→Speed of the motorboat in upstream = x - 3

We know that,

Distance = Time × Speed

Distance is same.

→ 6(x - 3) = 5(x + 3)

→ 6x - 18 = 5x + 15

→ x = 33

Therefore the speed of th motorboat in still water is 33km/hr

Answer:

Answer: 33/h.

Setp by setp explain.

let the speed of motor boat in still water.: X km/h.

speed of the motor boat in downstream : x +3.

speed of the motor boat in upstream: x -3

Distance= Time ×Speed.

so, the distance is same.

= 6(x-3)=5(x+3)

=6x-18=5x+15

=x=33.
