8. A steamer covers the distance between two parts down the stream in 2 hours. It covers the same distance up the stream in 3 hours. If the speed of the stream be 3 km/hour, then find the speed of the steamer in still water.​

Then, the speed downstream =(x+2) km/h

and the speed upstream =(x−3) km/h

Given, distance covered in 5 hours downstream = distance covered in 6 hours upstream

i e 5(x+2)= 6(x−3)

5x+10=6x-18

x= 28 km/hr
